Eight Gulls Earn Postseason Honors, Shpur Highlights Group With All-America Accolades

ABCA/RAWLINGS RELEASE | D3BASEBALL ALL-REGION | D3BASEBALL ALL-AMERICA

BEVERLY, Mass. – Earlier this week, eight members of the Endicott baseball program claimed postseason honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, respectively.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) highlighted the group with D3baseball.com All-America Fifth Team accolades.

Shpur is the sixth student-athlete in program history to earn All-America honors and the fourth to receive them from D3baseball.com.

The remaining postseason honors for the Gulls are as follows:

Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) – First Team
Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) – First Team
John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) – Second Team
Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) – Second Team
Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) – Third Team
Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) – Third Team

Shpur and Nardone are the only student-athletes listed above with previous All-Region honors.

Shpur was named an ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com Second Team selection in 2021, while Nardone garnered Third Team honors from both organizations during the same year.

Shpur's 2022 campaign featured the following single-season rankings: batting average (5th), on-base percentage (3rd), slugging percentage (4th), at-bats (1st), runs scored (t-2nd), hits (2nd), home runs (4th), RBI (2nd), total bases (2nd, 122), and walks (5th)

Stats: 50 GMs, .347/.443/.653, 54 R, 68 H, 60 RBI, 15 2B, 3 3B, 13 HR, 35 BB, 8 SB, 1.000 FLD% (75 PO, 1 A)
Expanded Stats: 23 multi-hit games (1st on team), 16 multi-RBI contests (t-1st on team), 10-game hitting streak, 25-game on-base streak, .378 RISP, .394 w/ 2 outs

Notarangelo etched his name into the following single-season rankings, highlighted by hitting the most homers and knocking in the most runs for the Gulls ever: slugging percentage (9th), at-bats (3rd), runs (4th), hits (6th), doubles (t-4th), home runs (1st), RBI (1st), total bases (1st, 128), and walks (2nd)

Stats: 40 GMs, .340/.410/.647, 39 R, 51 H, 37 RBI, 10 2B, 12 HR, 17 BB, 3 SB, .991 FLD% (308 PO, 27 A, 3 E, 9 RCS)
Expanded Stats: 14 multi-hit games, 12 multi-RBI contests, 9-game hitting streak, 9-game on-base streak, .302 RISP, .347 w/ 2 outs

Mulready's 2022 season featured the following single-season rankings: slugging percentage (10th), home runs (t-2nd, tied most by a catcher), and total bases (8th, 97)


DYLAN PACHECO | SO. | 2B

Stats: 38 GMs, .366/.434/.628, 31 R, 53 H, 40 RBI, 6 2B, 4 3B, 8 HR, 15 BB, .974 FLD% (58 PO, 90 A, 4 E)
Expanded Stats: 15 multi-hit games, 9 multi-RBI contests, 11-game hitting streak (2nd best on team), 11-game on-base streak, .429 RISP, .346 w/ 2 outs

Pacheco has positioned his name into the following single-season rankings: triples (t-10th), home runs (t-6th), and RBI (8th)


JAKE NARDONE | JR. | 1B

Stats: 50 GMs, .318/.397/.493, 38 R, 64 H, 56 RBI, 11 2B, 3 3B, 6 HR, 26 BB, 3 SB, .995 FLD% (423 PO, 10 A, 2 E)
Expanded Stats: 16 multi-hit games, 14 multi-RBI contests, 16-game hit streak (best on team), 27-game on-base streak (2nd on team), .323 RISP, .328 w/ 2 outs

Nardone's 2022 campaign featured the following single-season rankings: slugging percentage (5th), at-bats (2nd), hits (t-7th), RBI (3rd), total bases (6th, 99), and intentional walks (t-2nd, 3)


GABE VAN EMON | JR. | LHP

Stats: 18 appearances, 7 starts, 8-1 record, 1 save, 2.74 ERA, 72 1/3 IP, 87 strikeouts
Expanded Stats: 10.82 strikeouts per game (1st among starters), .179 batting average against

Van Emon broke the single-season strikeout record and ranked inside the top-10 in the following categories for 2022: lowest opponent batting average (7th), most strikeouts per nine (10th), most wins (t-2nd), most innings pitched (5th), and most strikeouts (1st)


NICHOLAS CANNATA | SO. | RHP

Stats: 16 appearances, 12 starts, 6-0 record, 3 complete games, 1 shutout, 2.93 ERA, 67 2/3 IP, 62 strikeouts
Expanded Stats: 8.25 strikeouts per game, .186 batting average against

Cannata's 2022 season featured the following single-season rankings: lowest opponent batting average (10th), most games started (t-2nd), most innings pitched (9th), and most strikeouts (t-8th)


MAX TARLIN | SR. | RHP

Stats: 24 appearances, 6-3 record, 7 saves, 2.79 ERA, 38 2/3 IP, 38 strikeouts
Expanded Stats: 8.84 strikeouts per game, .224 batting average against

Tarlin tied the single-season record for most appearances and games finished (18), while compiling the second-most saves in program history. 


YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott posted a program-record 40 wins (40-10 overall | 14-2 CCC), earned its highest national ranking in program history at No. 16 overall, advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time ever, and captured its eighth conference title overall.
