CCC TOURNAMENT: Endicott Outlasts Salve Regina, 14-9; Gulls Punch Ticket To Championship Round

NEWPORT, R.I. — The second-seeded Endicott baseball team knocked off first-seeded Salve Regina, 14-9, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament play on Friday evening at Reynolds Field.

WP (2-1): Will Fox (West Hartford, Conn.) — 2 2/3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
LP (6-2): Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) — 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Endicott (35-7) will now host fifth-seeded Western New England in the CCC Championship round tomorrow.

The Gulls enter tomorrow's CCC Championship Round undefeated (3-0), meaning the Golden Bears will need two wins on Saturday to claim the title.

First pitch is scheduled for noon, while the "if necessary" game is slated for a tentative 3 PM start, should the situation arise.

Leading 10-6 after five innings, the Gulls posted four important insurance runs in the sixth to help fend off Salve Regina.

The Seahawks didn't go away quietly, however, which was the theme of the entire game, as the hosts scored three more times in the ninth before all was said and done.

Chris Jenkins (Mansfield, Mass.) recorded the last two outs of the matchup (P4, 4-3) to lock up the victory and eliminate Salve Regina from the tournament.

Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.), Nickolas Perkins (Nashua, N.H.), and Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) highlighted the offense with three RBI apiece.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls improved to 10-3 on the road this season.
  • Salve Regina fell to 15-4 at home.
  • Endicott will look to capture its seventh CCC Championship, and eighth conference title overall, on Saturday.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 20/21 nationally ranked Endicott (35-7) hosts Western New England tomorrow at 12 PM (if necessary, 3 PM).

Salve Regina (28-11-2) will look to earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament behind its strong resume, which includes being positioned inside the top-5 in the NCAA Regional Rankings.
