Baseball Sweeps Curry, 3-2 & 11-1 (8 inn.)

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team defeated Curry, 3-2 and 11-1 (8 inn.), in conference action on Saturday evening at North Field.

GAME ONE: Endicott 3, Curry 2

WP (2-1): Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) – 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
LP (1-3): Zachary Wensley (Raynham, Mass.) – 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) laced a pinch hit double down the left field line to put the Gulls ahead for good.

Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.) scored all the way from first base on the play after reaching via a hit-by-pitch with one out in the frame. Grabowski also drove in both of Endicott's runs in the first inning with a two-run double to left center.

Meanwhile, Tarlin made quick work of the Colonels in the ninth with a groundout to short, fly out to right, and a strikeout swinging to lock up the win.

Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) was dealt the no-decision despite a quality start. Schwede tossed seven innings of two-run ball on three hits, no walks, and four strikeouts.


GAME TWO: Endicott 11, Curry 1 (8 inn.)

WP (5-0): Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) – 8 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 11 K
LP (1-3): Conor Quinlan (Taunton, Mass.) – 1 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

The Gulls completed the sweep via the league's doubleheader mercy rule in game two.

Matthew McKinley (Hudson, N.H.) did the honors for Endicott with an RBI single to center field plating J.P. Catellier (Springfield, Mass.) from third. McKinley finished the contest going 3-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI out of the nine hole.

The Gulls put the game away in the second inning with a five-run effort.

Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.), John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.), McKinley, and Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) all drove in runs with extra-base hits, while Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) pushed a run across home plate with a base knock to center in the frame.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Endicott is 33-18 all-time against Curry.
  • Schwede and Cannata both took a perfect game into the fifth inning.
  • Cannata struck out a career-high 11 batters for his fifth win of the season.
  • The Gulls have won 10 games in a row and are 14-1 at home in 2022.
