No. 25 Baseball Sweeps Wentworth, 9-2 & 8-1

WEYMOUTH, Mass. — The No. 25 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated Wentworth, 9-2 and 8-1, in conference action on Saturday evening at Libby Field.

GAME ONE: Endicott 9, Wentworth 2

WP (3-1): Rian Schwede (Whitma, Mass.) — 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
LP (2-2): Jacob Knowles (Concord, N.H.) — 4 1/3 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 1 K
SV (1): Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) — 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K

Tied 1-1 in the fifth inning, Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) launched a grand slam to left center the Gulls never relinquished the lead from there.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) also blasted a two-run homer to left center in the eighth, while Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.) clubbed a solo homer to left in the ninth to highlight the rest of the offense.


GAME TWO: Endicott 8, Wentworth 1

WP (6-0): Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) — 9 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
LP (3-4): Jon Campbell (Snohomish, Wash.) — 7 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.), Shpur, and Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) all homered in game two (Mulready/Notarangelo solo; Shpur three-run) to power Endicott to the sweep.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 25 Endicott (30-5, 13-0 CCC) hosts UMass Boston tomorrow at 1 PM. Sunday's game will serve as Senior Day for the Gulls. Wentworth (12-16, 2-11 CCC) clashes with Nichols on Tuesday, May 3 at 3:30 PM.
