BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott College varsity athletics program finished 47th overall out of more than 430 colleges and universities in the final 2021-22 Division III LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors (NACDA).
The Directors' Cup is awarded to the athletics program with the most broad-based participation and success in NCAA Tournament postseason competition. Standings for the Directors' Cup are based on a points system that rewards a school's finish in up to 18 sports – nine men and nine women – in NCAA Championships.
The Gulls compiled 392.00 points to record its second-highest finish ever since the program started in 1995-96.
Endicott also ranked first among its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) peers on the list by more than 240 points and 75 slots higher than the second place school in the league.
Regionally, the Gulls were 12th overall behind the following institutions (overall ranking in parentheses): Tufts (1), Middlebury (3), MIT (4), Williams (6), Amherst (24), Wesleyan (34), Bowdoin (39), Babson (40), WPI (43), Springfield (45), and Bates (46).
Endicott placed 47th overall in the Directors' Cup behind the following NCAA Tournament finishes (points/round): field hockey (53/2nd), football (25/1st), women's volleyball (25/1st), women's ice hockey (60/quarterfinals), baseball (64/super regionals), men's golf (40/1st), softball (50/regional championship), women's tennis (50/2nd), and men's volleyball (25/1st).
The College's best finish occurred in 2013-14 when the Gulls ranked No. 28 overall (445.00 points).

SCORING SYSTEM EXPLAINED
Overall, 18 sports are counted in the final DIII standings, four of which must be men's and women's soccer and men's and women's basketball. The next highest (14 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
Fall sports: men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's water polo.
Winter sports: men's and women's basketball, fencing, men's and women's ice hockey, rifle, skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's wrestling.
Spring sports: baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, men's volleyball, women's water polo.
