BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team edged Bates, 4-3, in non-conference action on Thursday night at North Field.
WP (1-0): Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) – 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
LP (0-1): Jack Potash (Weston, Conn.) – 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Tied 3-3 with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, freshman second baseman Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) grooved a middle-in fastball off the rocks in deep left field to push the Gulls ahead 4-3.
Tarlin wrapped up the contest from there working around a one-out single via a swinging strikeout and a fielder's choice groundout (6-4).
Endicott trailed 2-0 after one half inning, but Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.) did the heavy lifting offensively with a solo homer in the fourth and a two-run double in the seventh (3-2 lead).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls have won four out of the last five against Bates.
- Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) pitched three spotless innings out of the pen, tying his career-high for strikeouts with six total in the process.
- Wladkowski launched his first career home run in tonight's win.
- Nardone registered his second straight multi-hit and multi-RBI game.

Endicott (3-0) kicks off its spring break trip to Florida against Vassar on Sunday, March 13 (3/6 PM). Bates (2-5) travels to Brandeis for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 19 (1/3:30 PM).
