Haley, Shpur, & Tarlin Headline All-CCC Honorees

BEVERLY, Mass. – Thirteen members of the Endicott baseball program have earned postseason honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), as announced by the league office earlier today.

Head Coach Bryan Haley, outfielder Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.), and closer Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) highlighted the group of award winners for the Gulls.

Shpur was selected as the league's Co-Player of the Year, while Tarlin received Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolades, and Haley claimed Coach of the Year honors.

Shpur also was named to the All-CCC First Team along with Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.), John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.), Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.), and Dylan Pacheco (Dartmouth, Mass.).  

Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) was chosen to the All-CCC Second Team, while Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.), Nickolas Perkins (Nashua, N.H.), Jake Nardone (Wakefield, Mass.), Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.), Tarlin, and Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) all earned spots on the All-CCC Third Team.


CALEB SHPUR | OF | JR.

Shpur is the seventh student-athlete in program history to receive conference Player of the Year honors.

He accomplished the feat behind a .369/.461/.625 slash line (.avg/.obp/.slg), 50 runs scored, 59 hits (10 2B, 2 3B, 9 HR), 46 RBI, 26 walks, and an 11-for-13 showing in stolen base attempts.

Shpur ranks second on the team in multi-hit games with 16 (8 2-hit, 6 3-hit, 1 4-hit, 1 5-plus) and is tied for first in multi-RBI contests (5-2, 6-3, 1-4, 1-5+). Shpur has reached base safely in 38 straight games, by far the longest streak on the team this year, and put together an eight-game hitting streak during his junior campaign.

His elite range in center field also played a major role in the Gulls ranking No. 3 in the country in earned run average (ERA, 2.87) and No. 2 in fielding percentage (.980).

Defensively, Shpur sports a .988 fielding percentage on 86 total chances (82 PO, 3 A, 1 E).

This is Shpur's second career All-CCC First Team selection.

MAX TARLIN | RHP | SR.

Tarlin is the second Scholar-Athlete of the Year honoree in program history. He joins Colin Sitarz '12 M'13 (West Hartford, Conn.) on the exclusive list.

Tarlin currently has a 3.80 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as an accounting major (minor in computer science).

He is a member of the Endicott Scholars Program, an Orientation Leader, a Tour Guide in the Office of Admission, on the finance board of the Student Government Association, and inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society.

Tarlin's internship experiences include KPGM, WithumSmith+Brown PC, and Jewish Family and Children's Services in the capacity of either a tax or fiscal intern for each organization.

His experiential learning experiences have varied from preparing state and federal tax forms, mastering industry-standard business tools, public accounting, and analyzing budgets, among other duties.

Meanwhile, on the bump, Tarlin has compiled a 4-2 record, six saves, a 1.80 ERA, and 15 strikeouts in 30 innings pitched (19 appearances).

Tarlin ranks first among CCC relievers in saves and No. 28 in the country. He has pitched two or more innings out of the pen in seven appearances, which includes two saves of three innings or more, and did not allow a run to cross home plate in nine straight outings from March 27 to April 25.

This is Tarlin's first career All-CCC Third Team award.


NICHOLAS CANNATA | RHP | SO.

In 13 appearances this season (nine starts), Cannata boasts an undefeated record (6-0), a 1.99 ERA, and 54 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings pitched (three complete games).

He ranks second in the conference in wins and third in ERA.

Nationally, Cannata is sixth in the country in walks and hits per inning pitched (WHIP, 0.81), No. 13 in hits allowed per nine innings (5.30), and No. 38 in ERA.

He enters CCC Tournament play on a string of four straight quality starts (6-plus innings pitched, 3 earned runs or fewer).

This is Cannata's first career All-CCC honor.


JOHN MULREADY | C | SO.

Mulready has slashed at a .357/.380/.732 clip for the Gulls in 32 games (29 starts, all at catcher).

His stat line also includes 25 runs, 40 hits (9 2B, 11 HR), 28 RBI, six walks, and two stolen bases on as many attempts.

Mulready is fourth on the team in multi-hit (7-2, 4-3, 1-4) and multi-RBI games (5-2, 2-3, 2-4).

Behind the plate, Mulready has thrown out seven runners, logged 245 putouts and 19 assists, and features a .992 fielding percentage on 266 total chances.

This is Mulready's first career All-CCC First Team award.

DYLAN PACHECO | INF | SO.

Pacheco is hitting .337/.409/.644 on the year alongside 21 runs scored, 34 hits (3 2B, 2 3B, 8 HR), 30 RBI, and 12 walks.

He has collected nine multi-hit games (7-2, 1-3, 1-4) and seven multi-RBI contests (2-2, 3-3, 1-4, 1-5) in 31 games played this season (27 starts).

This is Pacheco's first career All-CCC First Team honor.

CCC RANKS: Triples (10th), Home Runs (6th), RBI (18th), Batting Average (19th), Slugging Percentage (4th)


NICHOLAS NOTARANGELO | OF | SO.

In 39 games played (all starts in left field), Notarangelo has slashed .355/.439/.639 in addition to 40 runs, 55 hits (11 2B, 3 3B, 9 HR), 47 RBI, 23 walks, and six stolen bases on eight attempts.

Notarangelo leads the team in multi-hit games with 20 (14-2, 5-3, 1-4) and is second in multi-RBI contests (5-2, 4-3, 2-4, 1-5).

His best hitting streak this season is 10 games, while his best on-base streak of the year has lasted 25 games (third best on team).

Defensively, Notarangelo's showcased tremendous range and a perfect fielding percentage in left (50 PO, 1 A).

This is Notarangelo's first career All-CCC award.

GABE VAN EMON | LHP | JR.

Van Emon is 6-0 on the year alongside a 2.44 ERA, 68 strikeouts, and one save in 51 2/3 innings pitched (15 appearances, four starts).

He has made seven relief appearances of three or more innings this season, while five of his six wins have come from out of the pen.

Van Emon ranks second in the league in wins, fifth in strikeouts and ERA.

Nationally, Van Emon is No. 14 in hits allowed per nine innings (5.57) and No. 84 in ERA.

This is Van Emon's first career conference honor.


RIAN SCHWEDE | RHP | JR.

In 13 appearances (10 starts) this season, Schwede is 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings pitched (four quality starts).

Schwede ranks second in the conference in innings pitched and No. 10 in ERA.

This is Schwede's second career All-CCC Third Team award.


JAKE NARDONE | 1B/OF | JR.

Nardone's stat line this season includes a .350/.432/.561 slash line, 29 runs, 55 hits (11 2B, 2 3B, 6 HR), a league-leading 50 RBI (48th nationally), and 23 walks.

He has compiled 14 multi-hit games (8-2, 5-3, 1-5), including the longest hitting streak on the team of 16 games, and 13 multi-RBI contests (5-2, 6-3, 1-4, 1-5).

Defensively, has 313 putouts and nine assists at first base (.994).

This is Nardone's second career All-CCC honor (first team in 2021).

KYLE GRABOWSKI | INF | SO.

In 39 games played (all starts at third), Grabowski is hitting .262/.331/.383 in addition to 34 runs, 39 hits (10 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR), 24 RBI, six walks, a team-leading five sacrifice flies, and seven stolen bases on eight attempts.

Grabowski has registered 10 multi-hit games (8-2, 2-3) and seven multi-RBI contests (5-2, 2-3).

This is Grabowski's second career All-CCC award (second team in 2021).


NIKOLAS PERKINS | DH | GR.

Perkins' season has included a .298/.383/.529 slash line, 18 runs, 36 hits (7 2B, 7HR), 26 RBI, and 14 walks.

He has logged 10 multi-hit games (8-2, 1-3, 1-4) and eight multi-RBI contests (6-2, 1-3, 1-4).

This is Perkins' first career All-CCC honor.


ROBBIE WLADKOWSKI | INF | FR.

In 25 games this season (16 starts), Wladkowski sports a .246/.425/.508 slash line alongside 14 runs, 15 hits (4 2B, 4 HR), 11 RBI, and 14 walks.

Wladkowski has played the majority of his year at second base (21) in addition to some time at first and third base.

This is Wladkowski's first career postseason award.


BRYAN HALEY | HEAD COACH

Haley picked up his fourth career CCC Baseball Coach of the Year honor this season after leading the Gulls to a 32-7 (14-2 CCC) overall record. It marks the fourth 30-win season in program history, all under Haley's guidance.

The skipper has also managed the Gulls to their highest national ranking in program history this season at No. 16 overall, via the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Top-30 Poll.

Endicott currently sits at No. 20 in the CBN/ABCA Poll and No. 21 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NWBCA)/D3baseball.com Top-25 Poll.

Additionally, the Gulls sport the third-best team ERA in all of NCAA Division III at 2.87, rank No. 1 in WHIP (1.12), and have hit the fourth-most home runs (60) nationally. The Gulls also have a top-25 slugging percentage at .517.
