No. 25 Baseball Thumps UMass Boston, 18-3

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 25 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated UMass Boston, 18-3, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at North Field.

LP (1-1): Thomas Kierce (Cohasset, Mass.) – 2 IP, 2 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 1 K

Endicott scored seven runs over the first three innings and was never threatened the rest of the way.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, four RBI, and three walks, while John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) posted a 3-for-3 line alongside three runs scored and three RBI to highlight the Gulls.

Both student-athletes homered in the win with Shpur hitting a three-run shot in the second (5-0) and Mulready lifting a two-run homer to center in the third (7-0).

On the bump, Alexander Zaiser (Naples, Fla.) turned in a solid start for Endicott via four innings of work, one hit, one run (earned), a walk, and a game-high five strikeouts.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are 14-1 this season when scoring 10 or more runs.
  • Endicott is 17-1 at home this season.
  • The Blue and Green are 9-7 all-time against UMass Boston.
