Peterson, Women's Hockey Shut Out Wesleyan, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. —  Behind a 36 save shutout from senior goaltender Alyssa Peterson (Cranberry Township, Pa.), the No. 10 nationally ranked Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Wesleyan (Conn.), 3-0, on Tuesday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Peterson got stronger as the game went on, making eight saves in the first period, 13 saves in the second period, and 15 saves in the third period.

Meanwhile, on offense, the Gulls received goals from Ashlie Jones (Billerica, Mass.), Jillian Gibbs (Burlington Vt.), and Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska).

Jones got the Gulls on the board at the 4:16 mark of the first period when she put the puck in the back of the net off of a scramble in front for her seventh goal of the season.

From there, it was a back and forth battle until Gibbs found the puck in front of the net and calmly slotted it home at the 11:56 mark of the second period to put the Gulls up 2-0.

Then with just under a minute to go in the third period, Meier scored an empty-net goal from her own defensive zone to squash any chance of a Wesleyan (Conn.) comeback.

  • Peterson is tied for second in Division III in shutouts with four.
