Beverly, Mass. — The Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated Southern Maine, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
The Gulls opened the scoring through Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) who scored on the power play at 10:41 in the first period. Just over a minute later Kaylee Liberty (Arlington Heights, Ill.) notched her first collegiate goal to make it 2-0 Endicott.
Then, just over two minutes into the second period, the Blue and Green added a third through Ashlie Jones (Billerica, Mass.).
Meanwhile, Endicott goaltender Alyssa Peterson (Cranberry Township, Pa.) made 19 saves in net to move to 1-0-0 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott now leads the all-time series over Southern Maine, 3-1-1.
- Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska), Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine), and Jones were each credited with an assist.
- The Gulls have now won five straight home openers.
- Including last season, Gibbs has now scored in five straight games for the Gulls.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (1-0-0) host Nichols on Friday, November 8 for their first Colonial Hockey Conference game of the season at 4 PM. Southern Maine (0-2-0) hosts New England College on Friday, November, 8 at 7 PM.
