Women's Ice Hockey Named 2019-20 Division III Statistical Champion for Power Play Percentage

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's ice hockey team was named the 2019-20 Division III statistical champion for power play percentage the association announced earlier this month.

This is the first time in program history that the program has been named a statistical champion for power play percentage. Prior to this season, the Gulls were named statistical champion for penalty kill in 2016-17.

The Gulls scored 36 power play goals this season on 109 opportunities (33%), which was over 4 percent higher than Plattsburgh State which was the next best team at 28.1%.

In Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) play, Endicott led the conference with 20 goals on 68 power play opportunities (29.4%).

The Gulls scored three power play goals in three games this season, and only had five games where they did not score a power play goal.

Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine) led the team in power play goals with eight while Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) followed closely in second with seven.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott went 25-2 overall and 16-0 in CHC play. The Gulls captured their second straight CHC championship with a 4-1 win over UNE on March 7. This season the Gulls set regular-season records for overall wins, and conference wins and earned their highest-ever national ranking of No. 7. Endicott was scheduled to take on Middlebury in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III women's ice hockey tournament, but the game was canceled as the NCAA made the decision to cancel all NCAA winter and spring championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
