Women's Ice Hockey Tops Nichols, 5-0

Burrillville, R.I.  – The Endicott women's ice hockey team took down Nichols, 5-0, on Saturday evening at Levy Rink. 

The Gulls got on the board just over a minute into the game through Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine) who put home her first goal of the season to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead. Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) then notched her second goal of the season at 6:48 of the first to put Endicott ahead 2-0. 

In the second frame, Sullivan gave the Gulls a 3-0 lead just 36 seconds in, and Kat Keith (Westwood, Mass.) scored her second goal in as many games, on the power-play to put Endicott ahead 4-0. 

Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.) rounded out the scoring for Endicott making it 5-0 with her first goal of the season, on the power-play in the third period. 

Meanwhile, Endicott goaltender Michaela O'Brien (Pembroke, Mass.) made 20 saves to move to 1-0-0 on the season.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Endicott now leads the all-time series over Nichols 7-2.
  • Ashlie Jones (Billerica, Mass.), Kaylee Liberty (Arlington Heights, Ill.), Maeve Moynihan (West Roxbury, Mass.), Jade Meier (Fairbanks, Alaska), Emma McDowell (Alexandria, Va.), McNamara, and Gibbs were all credited with assists in the contest. 
  • O'Brien's shutout was the first of her collegiate career. 
  • The Gulls have started the season 3-0 for the fourth time in program history. 

WHAT'S NEXT 

Endicott (3-0-0, 2-0-0 CHC) travels to Norwich on Tuesday, November 12 for a 7 PM game. Nichols (0-4-0, 0-2-0 CHC) host The University of New England on Friday, November 15 at 3:40 PM.
