The Gulls started the defense of their Commonwealth Coast Conference title with a hard fought first round win over visiting University of New England. The Gulls started things off in the bottom of the first inning when leadoff hitter, Paula McGinn walked. McGinn would advance to second on a passed ball and move to third on a Megan Young sacrifice bunt. The next batter, Elyse Colby smacked a double over the left fielders head scoring the Gulls lone run.
Robyn Savitske was once again dominating on the mound and the Gulls defense played flawless behind her. Savitske scattered only four hits over seven innings while striking out seven Nor' Easter batters.
