In the first game, the Gulls took a one run lead in the top of the third inning on a Megan Young RBI. Young singled up the middle, scoring Laura Schack from third. Wentworth tied the game in the bottom of the sixth, and with no runs scored in the seventh, and the game was sent into extra innings.
Using the international tie breaker rule, Paula McGinn was placed on second in the top of the 8th, and advanced to third on an Ashley Labella fielders choice to the pitcher. The speedy McGinn would then dash home and score the go ahead run on a wild pitch. Young then earned a walk, and was replaced by pinch runner Morgan Finegan. Finegan stole second, and came around to score the third run for the Gulls on a Megan Huckins RBI single.
The Gulls held off one last Wentworth surge, allowing the Leopards to come within one, but sophomore Robyn Savitske was stellar on the mound and struck out the last two batters, giving EC the extra inning win. Savitske struck out 15 batters in all and allowed five hits while walking none.
