Beverly, MA - Endicott sophomore Robyn Savitske (Hellertown, PA) earned Commonwealth Coast Co-Player of the Week Honors, as announced by the Conference on Monday. In an 8-0 week for the Gulls, Savitske went 5-0 on the mound with a 0.18 earned run average.
She hurled four shutouts and took a perfect game into the seventh inning against New England College, in which she allowed only one hit, walked one and stuck out 11. In her next appearance, pitching against Regis College, she displayed her consistency, allowing only one hit, walking one and striking out 10 Regis batters. She shutout Eastern Nazarene College in the first of two games, fanning 11 batters.
She would pitch back-to-back shutouts against Gordon College, leading the Gulls to victory. "Robyn had an outstanding week, and being named Co-Player of the Week is well deserved," Head Coach Mark Veilleux said. "Robyn's seven shutouts in ten games is a tribute to her focus on the mound, and the great defense behind her."
In 34 innings of work, Savitske had 38 strikeouts and allowed just 10 hits. She is 10-0 on the mound, while the team is 15-2 overall, 9-1 in the CCC. The Gulls host conference member, Anna Maria College today for a double header, beginning at 3:00p.m.
