Kissimmee, FL-- The Gulls softball team continued its winning ways in the Rebel Spring Games, defeating Franklin and Marshall 6-0. The Gulls wasted no time putting runs on the board, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Ashley Labella started it off with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Megan Young then walked and both runners advanced on another passed ball, leaving runners in scoring position. Elyse Colby grounded out to third, while Labella dashed home with the first run. Young then advanced home on a passed ball.
In the third inning, Labella once again started it off with a walk and tagged up on a Young sacrifice fly. Labella then advanced home on a Megan Huckins RBI double. The Gulls cranked it up again in the 4th inning, scoring 3 more runs. Rachel Pearson started it off with a single and was pinch run for by Morgan Finegan who stole second. Katie Doherty then tripled home Finegan for the fifth run. Nicole Reather then followed it up with a single scoring Doherty from third for the games final run.
The Gulls were solid on the mound with Robyn Savitske and Kelly Bregman pitching well. Savitske faced 12 batters and shut down all of them in a row. She gave up no hits, no runs and had 5 strikeouts. In 11 innings pitched, Savitske has faced the bare minimum 33 batters. Bregman came in and pitched 3 innings of solid relief allowing no runs on 2 hits and allowed 1 walk.
The Gulls next games are tonight against Rowan at 4:10pm and Calvin College at 6:00pm.
