Beverly, MA-- The Gulls split its doubleheader with Roger Williams in the first Commonwealth Coast Conference action of the year for both teams. The Gulls took the first game 6-2, but the Hawks got revenge in game two, winning 8-0.
After taking a 1-0 lead into the fourth inning in game one, the Gulls scored three runs behind the hitting of Megan Huckins (Bangor, ME) and Katie Doherty (Saugus, MA), who belted consecutive doubles in the inning. Ashley Labella (Saugus, MA) scored in the fifth and seventh innings to help secure the win.
In game two, the teams took a scoreless game into the bottom of the fourth, when the Hawks plated six runs to jump out to a commanding lead. Seven RWU players came up with a hit in the inning, securing their victory.
The Gulls (7-2, 1-1 CCC) are back in action, tomorrow when they host Regis College at 10a.m.
