Beverly, MA-- In a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up, the Gulls swept the Salve Regina Seahawks in today's double header. The Gulls scored two runs in the first game, and two in the second, holding the Seahawks to only one run, behind the strong pitching of Robyn Savitske and Nicole Reather.
In the first game, EC scored two runs in the bottom of the 5th. Rachel Pearson started the inning off with a single, and Morgan Finegan pinch ran. Katie Doherty sacrificed Finegan to second, and she would advance to third on a Reather single. The base runners advanced on a passed ball, and would score on the next play in similar fashion. Reather scored from third thanks to a Laura Schack single, giving EC the two run lead.
The Gulls held the Seahawks to just two hits. Savitske struck out 13 and walked none, improving her record to 13-0. Five EC batters notched a hit in the 2-1 victory.
