Beverly, MA - Endicott sophomore Robyn Savitske (Hellertown, PA) earned Commonwealth Coast Co-Pitcher of the Week Honors, as announced by the Conference on Monday. During the Gulls' first seven games, Savitske was 4-0 with one save.
The sophomore did not allow any runs in 27.1 innings of work, including three complete-game shutouts, and held opponents to a .143 batting average. "Pitching 27 innings and not allowing a run was simply outstanding," Head Coach Mark Veilleux commented.
In the Gulls season opener, Savitske pitched an exceptional game, allowing only two hits and struck out nine. In a huge win for the Gulls against Illinois Wesleyan, Savitske came in for relief, pitching a scoreless 2 1/3 innings for the save. With the help of Savitske, EC improved their record to 3-0 with a win over Franklin and Marshall. Savitske faced 12 batters and shut down all of them in a row. She gave up no hits, no runs and had 5 strikeouts.
Continuing to dominate on the mound, Savitske pitched an outstanding game against Rowan. She allowed no runs on only three hits, with no walks and three strikeouts. Pitching in her 4th game of the season, Savitske gave up seven hits, had two walks and five strikeouts, which proved to be all she needed to tack on her 4th win and shutout of the season.
