Kissimmee, FL-- The Endicott Softball team started their ten-game trip to Florida's Rebel Spring Games on a winning note. Their first test was against Pine Manor College, and the Gulls proved they were ready, winning 4-0.
The Gulls started things off in the third inning when freshman Paula McGinn, playing in her first ever collegiate game, smacked a triple to centerfield. Ashley Labella followed it up with an RBI bunt single. Megan Young followed Labella's single with one of her own and after a pair of stolen bases by Labella and Young, Elyse Colby stepped in and lined an RBI double to leftfield.
The Gulls would gain one more run starting when Megan Huckins reached on an error by Pine Manor's Megan Goss. Next to the plate was Laura Schack who reached on an error by the shortstop which allowed Huckins to score the Gulls last run.
On the mound, Robyn Savitske was tremendous allowing only 2 hits and 9 strikeouts. Also playing well for the Gulls were McGinn who was 2-3 with a run scored and Colby who finished 1-3 with 2 RBI.
The Gulls played their next game against Illinois Wesleyan.
