Beverly, MA In the cold and snow, the EC Gulls scored four runs in the bottom of the 5th, capping off their 8-0 victory against Anna Maria College. Due to the weather, the second game of the double header was postponed.
Rachel Pearson started the second inning off with a single, and would advance to second on a Colleen Guertin throwing error. Missy Swymer pinch ran for Pearson, advancing to third on a Nicole Reather single. Sophomore Laura Schack stepped up to the plate and smacked a single, bringing in the first run of the game for the Gulls.
In the third inning, Elyse Colby and Megan Huckins hit back-to-back triples. Colby scored the second run of the game for Endicott on Huckins' triple. In the 4th inning, Schack reached on an error and then stole her second base of the game,putting her in scoring position.Paula McGinn followed with a walk, and the runners advanced on a passed ball. Schack and McGinn scored on an Ashley Labella double, giving the Gulls the four run lead.
The Gulls would add four more runs in the 5th inning. Pearson walked, and Morgan Finegan came in to pinch run, advancing to third off on a Katie Doherty double. The 5th run crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Schack. Reather and Doherty scored the 6th and 7th runs of the game on an error. Megan Young singled, allowing McGinn to score from third the 8th and final run for the Gulls.
EC improves their record to 16-2, 10-1 in the CCC. Robyn Savitske earns her 11th win of the season, remaining undefeated. She pitched 5 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven.
The Gulls will play at the University of Southern Maine tomorrow at 3:30pm.
