Women’s Basketball Downs Gordon On Senior Day, 94-82

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team never trailed in its 94-82 conference victory over Gordon College on Saturday afternoon at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Prior to tip-off, senior Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus, Mass.) was honored for her contributions to the women's basketball program and the College in a pre-game ceremony.

Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) highlighted the Gulls in the contest with a career-high 25 points (10-17 FG, 1-3 3PT, 4-7 FT), a program record 13 assists, and seven rebounds.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) and Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) contributed their ninth and seventh double-doubles (21 PTS/16 RBS | 15 PTS/10 RBS) of the season to the victory, respectively.

Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.) rounded out the list of double-digit scorers with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor (5-9 3PT).

Endicott led by as many as 22 points (43-21) with 7:02 remaining in the second quarter and never saw its advantage dip under 10 points the rest of the way.

In the fourth quarter, Gordon made things interesting by cutting its deficit to 85-75 on the scoreboard with 2:56 to play, but Endicott outscored its opposition 9-7 down the stretch to lock up the regular season finale.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Gulls' head coach Brittany Hutchinson secured her 200th career win, all at Endicott (200-142, .585).
  • Jen McBrien '13 (Medfield, Mass.) held the previous single-game assist record with 12 total against Salve Regina on 11/28/12.
  • Shinney is now listed eight times in the top-10 single-game assists leaderboard.
  • The Gulls posted a 21-4 differential in fast break points.
  • Endicott is 34-15 all-time against Gordon (winners of three straight).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (14-10, 9-7 CCC) has earned the fifth seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament. The Gulls will visit No. 4 Suffolk on Tuesday, February 20 for a quarterfinal round matchup in Boston at 7 PM. No. 7 Gordon (5-20, 4-12 CCC) travels to No. 2 University of New England next Tuesday at 7 PM.
