Women’s Basketball Falls To UNE, 63-55

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team fell to the University of New England (UNE), 63-55, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) bout on Tuesday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) recorded her sixth double-double of the 2023-24 campaign courtesy of 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The pairing of Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus, Mass.) and Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.) supplied 12 points each.

Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) finished with 10 points, 10 boards, and swiped two steals in 38 minutes. 

After trailing 20-14 at the end of the first quarter, the Gulls notched a 6-2 run to cut the deficit to 28-24 with 4:20 to play. Bogdanski and Nadeau each supplied three points during the stretch.

Meanwhile, the Nor'Easters led 35-29 at the break. 

In the third quarter, UNE used a 12-3 burst to give them their largest lead to that point, 50-36 with 3:43 to play.

The Blue and Green didn't go away quietly as they cut the Nor'Easters' lead to 60-53 with 3:56 left to go. The hosts produced a 9-2 spurt via five points from Nadeau and four points courtesy of Fleming.

Ultimately, the Nor'Easters held on to down the Gulls on the road.

  • UNE leads the all-time series, 35-18. 
  • The Gulls are 4-1 when making six or more three-pointers.
  • Dempsey has recorded 25 double-doubles in her career thus far.
  • The Gulls outrebounded the Nor'Easters on the offensive end, 14-11.
  • The hosts reserves outscored the visitors' bench, 17-15.

Endicott (10-7, 6-4 CCC) remains at The Nest to take on Suffolk on Saturday, January 27 at 1:00 PM. UNE (12-6, 7-3 CCC) visits Gordon on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
