Dempsey, Shinney Repeat As CCC Weekly Award Winners

BEVERLY, Mass. — For the second week in a row, Endicott women's basketball junior forward Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) and freshman guard Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) have been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Co-Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for women's basketball.

The duo led Endicott to its second consecutive undefeated week, with wins over Gordon, Curry and Hartford.

Dempsey became the third fastest student-athlete in program history to reach the 1,000 career point plateau during Thursday's win, and averaged 18.7 points per game (54.1 FG%, 20-37), 11.0 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 3.0 blocks, and notched two double-doubles.

Shinney aided Endicott to a 3-0 week via 15.3 points per game, 6.0 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.7 steals. 

In Tuesday's road conference contest at Gordon, Dempsey dropped 22 points (10-15 FG, 1-1 3PT), 11 rebounds, two steals, a block, and an assist in the 92-46 blowout. Shinney contributed in all facets of the game, as she notched 11 points (5-11 FG), seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals for the Blue and Green.

In a 73-51 home conference victory over Curry on Thursday, Dempsey recorded her 1,000th career point amidst her 19 point (5-15 FG, 9-11 FT), 13 rebound, and five block performance. Shinney once again stuffed up the stat sheet with her 15 points (6-16 FG, 3-4 FT), six assists, and seven rebounds in the win. 

On Saturday at Hartford, the duo once again paved the way en route to Endicott's sixth consecutive win. Dempsey put up another 15 points (5-7 FG), nine rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and two steals, while Shinney scored a game-high 20 points (7-14 FG), dished out four assists, snagged five rebounds, swiped two steals, and logged 40 minutes of play.

The awards mark Dempsey's fifth career CCC Player of the Week award (1/24/22, 1/17/23, 11/27/23, 1/2/24) and Shinney's third career CCC Rookie of the Week award (12/11/23, 1/2/24).
