BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott women's basketball junior forward Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) and freshman guard Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) have received Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player and Rookie of the Week awards, respectively.
Both student-athletes led the Gulls to a 2-0 week in the Florida Sunshine Shootout down in Daytona last week. Dempsey averaged 21.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks, while Shinney averaged 9.5 points, 7.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals in Endicott's wins over Kalamazoo and Principia.
On December 27 in a 68-43 victory over Kalamazoo, Dempsey led all scorers and notched season-highs with 28 points (11-18 FG, 2-2 3 PT), 15 rebounds (10 defensive, five offensive), four blocks, and three steals in 29 minutes of play. She was also a game-high +25 in plus/minus.
Shinney was the game's second-highest scorer, as she contributed 19 points (8-16 FG, 1-2 3PT, 2-3 FT) in addition to her four rebounds, three assists, and career-high three steals.
In the 67-45 victory over Principia on December 29, the duo once again paved the way for Endicott in its third straight victory.
Dempsey notched 14 points (6-10 FG, 2-3 FT), four rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while Shinney recorded a career-best 11 assists in the effort to pair with her eight rebounds and three steals.
Shinney's 11 assists rank her tied for second all-time in program single-game assists (Gabriella Coppolla, 2/10/18 vs. Wentworth | Coppolla, 2/16/16 vs. Wentworth).
The awards mark Dempsey's fourth career CCC Player of the Week award (1/24/22, 1/17/23, 11/27/23) and Shinney's second career CCC Rookie of the Week award (12/11/2023).

Endicott (4-5, 1-2 CCC) travels to Gordon tonight, January 2, for a 5:30 PM tipoff in search of its fourth consecutive victory.
