Western New England Edges Women’s Basketball, 61-56

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team fell to Western New England, 61-56, on Saturday afternoon in conference action at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led all scorers with 24 points (9-18 FG, 0-1 3PT, 6-8 FT) alongside a game-high-tying seven rebounds.

Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) contributed nine points, six rebounds, and seven assists, while Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.) matched her teammate in the scoring column over 22 minutes of action.

Trailing 52-41 entering the fourth quarter, Western New England outscored the Gulls 20-4 to complete the comeback victory.

The Golden Bears did so by shooting 7-of-11 from the floor (63.6%, 1-2 3PT, 5-9 FT) all while holding the hosts to a 2-of-10 showing on the other end.

Endicott led by as many as 13 points (52-39) with 1:36 to play in the third quarter before Western New England surged ahead for its third straight win (4-1 last five).
