Women’s Basketball Stymies Wentworth, 87-47

BOSTON, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Wentworth, 87-47, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Recreation Center.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led four Gulls in double figures with 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-3 FT) alongside four rebounds and three dimes.

Katelyn Konareski (Milford, Conn.) produced 12 points on a perfect 5-5 shooting from the floor and 2-2 from bonus distance along with a personal-best six steals off the bench.

Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) chipped in with 12 points, five dimes, and three steals, while Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) finished with 10 points and seven boards in 26 minutes of action.

From the opening tip, Endicott dictated the tempo and pace on the road. The Gulls gained an early 18-7 advantage after the opening quarter and never were threatened the rest of the way.

The Blue and Green's defense later fueled a 10-4 scoring run to gain a 28-13 with 6:12 to play, as Dempsey, Konareski, Fleming, Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.), and Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus, Mass.) each netted a bucket during the spurt.

The visitors doubled up the hosts in the third quarter, 26-13, to seize all momentum.

In the fourth, the Gulls manufactured their largest lead of 41 points (79-38) via an Alyssa Garabedian (Cheshire, Mass.) and one lay-in plus the freebie.
