Women’s Basketball Doubles Up Gordon, 92-46

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Gordon, 92-46, on Tuesday evening at the Bennett Center.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) recorded her third double-double in 2023-24 via a game-high 22 points (10-15 FG, 1-1 3PT), climbed the ladder for 11 rebounds, and snagged two steals.

Katelyn Konareski (Milford, Conn.) chipped in with 17 points (7-8 FG, 2-3 3PT) and snared a career-best eight rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) also filled the stat sheet with 11 points, (5-11 FG) dished out seven assists, grabbed six boards, and swiped three steals, while Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) added 11 points and eight rebounds. 

Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus, Mass.) rounded out the individual highlights with 12 points and eight boards in the triumph. 

The Gulls leaped out to an early 17-2 advantage just 5:19 into the contest and never looked back. 

The rapid start was fueled by solid defense and efficient offensive buckets via Dempsey (7), Shinney (4), Alyssa Garabedian (Cheshire, Mass.) (2), Fleming (2) and Bogdanski (2). 

Endicott outscored the Fighting Scots, 39-12, to close out the half for a 55-20 advantage.

From there, the Gulls continued their dominance courtesy of a 15-4 stretch to give the visitors a 45-point lead (73-28) with 3:08 to play in the third quarter.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls have won four straight.
  • Following her 22-point performance, Dempsey moved past Kaleigh Putnam '20 for 13th all-time in career scoring and now sits at 984 career points.
  • The Gulls have held their opponents to 46 points or less in three consecutive contests. 
  • The visitors were plus-seven on the offensive glass which resulted in 21 second-chance points.
  • Endicott outscored Gordon in the lane, 56-30.
  • The Gulls scored 29 points off 20 Gordon turnovers.
  • The Blue and Green are 17-8 on the road against the Fighting Scots in the all-time series.

Endicott (5-5, 2-2 CCC) welcomes Curry on Thursday at 5:30 PM. Gordon (1-10, 0-3 CCC) takes on Nichols on Thursday at 5:30 PM.
