Women’s Basketball Tops Curry, 73-51; Dempsey Swishes 1,000th Point

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team took down Curry, 73-51, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Thursday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.

With 7:15 remaining in the fourth quarter, Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) knocked down a free throw to join the 1,000-point club. The junior recorded her fourth double-double of the 2023-24 campaign courtesy of 19 points (5-15 FG, 9-11 FT), 12 boards, and four blocks.

Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) supplied an all-around game with 15 points (6-16 FG, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, six dimes, and two steals.

Katelyn Konareski (Milford, Conn.) also added 12 points and swiped three steals off the bench.

The opening quarter saw six lead changes and three ties, as Endicott held the largest lead of 7-0.

From there, the Gulls created some separation via an 11-2 stretch to extend the lead to 40-28 at the break. The Blue and Green held the Colonels scoreless in the final 4:51 of the second quarter.

The run was generated by a transition bucket and pair of free throws from Shinney, a Chloe Bindon (Walpole, Mass.) trifecta, a Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) lay-in, and a Konareski fast break layup.

Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter, Endicott's lead grew to 65-39 ignited by a 15-2 burst to seize all momentum late in the contest.
