Women's Basketball Comeback Push Falls Just Short At Springfield, 61-56

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott Women's Basketball team made a late comeback attempt at Springfield on Tuesday night, but ultimately fell at the hands of the Pride, 61-56.

Springfield jumped out to an early 17-6 lead after the first quarter, and stretched that out to a 35-20 lead going into halftime.

However, Endicott came out aggressive in the second half, as it went on a 31-15 run after the break to eventually take its first lead of the game with just 4:02 remaining in the fourth.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led the Gulls' efforts, posting 27 points on 12-25 shooting to go along with seven rebounds (four offensive). Dempsey singlehandedly scored 18 of Endicott's 20 first-half points.

Katelyn Konareski (Milford, Conn.) provided a major boost off the bench, as she accrued 19 points on 6-8 shooting (5-5 3PM), two rebounds, and a steal in her 17 minutes of play.

In terms of playmaking, Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) delivered for the Gulls, as she dished out seven assists in addition to her eight points scored on the evening.
