Comtois Earns NFCA All-America Second Team Honors

NFCA RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott junior catcher Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Second Team.

Comtois is the second student-athlete in program history to earn NFCA All-America honors.

She joins Endicott Hall of Fame pitcher Robyn Savitske Crosby '07 (Hellertown, Pa.) on the exclusive list. Savitske Crosby claimed NFCA All-America Second Team honors back in 2005.

2022 SEASON

As for Comtois, the junior catcher's 2022 campaign was one of the best seasons at the position in the program's storied history.

Comtois slashed .387/.428/.662 (.avg/.obp/.slg) in 45 games, with 44 starts coming at catcher. She also compiled 21 runs, 55 hits (12 2B, 9 HR), 38 RBI, and nine walks, while only striking out 12 times over the course of 142 at-bats.

Defensively, Comtois registered a .994 fielding percentage on 332 chances (310 PO, 20 A, 2 E).

Her single-season historical numbers include the most hits by a catcher, the most chances and putouts by any fielder, and the highest fielding percentage at any position (min. 200 chances).

Additionally, Comtois is the only student-athlete in program history to record more than 300 putouts and 300 chances in a single season.

Comtois led the Gulls with 10 multi-RBI games (6-2, 1-3, 2-4, 1-5+) and finished third in multi-hit contests with 13 total (7-2, 5-3, 1-4).

Her split stats were equally as impressive.

Comtois hit .389 with runners on (37-for-95), .338 with runners in scoring position (22-for-65), a team-best .423 with two outs (22-for-52), and drove in a season-high 20 RBI with two outs.

Comtois accomplished all of this in the heart of the order as the junior catcher hit 38 times in the third spot and seven times at cleanup.

As a team, Endicott led the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) in earned run average by almost a full run (1.72 to 2.88) and finished first in strikeouts by more than 50 punchouts (302-248).

Her defensive efforts also played a key role in the Gulls ranking first in the conference in fielding percentage by more than 10 points (.971-.960).

Comtois' individual rankings compared to the conference and all NCAA Division III student-athletes are as follows:

CCC – H (2nd), 2B (5th), HR (1st), RBI (3rd), TB (94, 2nd), BA (5th), OBP (10th), SLG (3rd), TC (1st), PO (1st), FLD% (1st, min. 150 chances)
NCAA – H (87th), HR (36th), HRs per game (0.20, 75th), RBI (92nd), TB (98th)

YEAR IN REVIEW

The Gulls finished the year 32-13 overall and 15-3 in CCC play.

Endicott captured its third straight CCC Championship with a sweep over Western New England, 6-5 and 11-3 (6 inn.), on May 7.

In the NCAA Tournament, the Gulls advanced to the regional championship round for the first time since 2014 before falling to No. 4 nationally ranked and potential College World Series champion Salisbury University.
