Gulls Drop Two To No. 18 Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. — The Endicott softball team fell to No. 18 nationally ranked Babson, 1-0 (8 inn.) and 8-5, on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field.

GAME ONE: No. 18 Babson 1, Endicott 0 (8 inn.)

WP (17-2): Moira O'Reilly (Columbus, Ohio) — 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 11 K
LP: (9-4): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 7 2/3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

Babson scratched across the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning via a passed ball.

Couto was sensational in the circle as the sophomore righty compiled five 1-2-3 innings and only allowed one runner to reach second base in the second inning before extras.

Meanwhile, the Gulls put a runner in scoring position in the fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, respectively, but O'Reilly stymied the offense each time.

GAME TWO: No. 18 Babson 8, Endicott 5

WP (11-2): Logan MacDonald (Wilmington, Mass.) — 6 2/3 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
LP (12-4): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 3 1/3 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
SV (1): Nicole Sestito (Sea Girt, N.J.) — 1/3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K

Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.), Taylor Chelak (Westborough, Mass.), and Riley Gamache (Litchfield, N.H.) all had multi-hit games in the loss.

The Gulls nearly rallied in the seventh with two runs in the frame but did not complete the comeback despite having the tying run at the plate.
