Hanchuk Headlines Softball All-CCC Award Winners

BEVERLY, Mass. – Eight members of the Endicott softball program have received postseason honors from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), as announced by the league office earlier today.

Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) highlighted the group of award winners by earning CCC Pitcher of the Year honors for the second straight season.

Hanchuk is now the fifth student-athlete in program history to claim CCC Pitcher of the Year accolades.

She joins Nell O'Connor '14 (Harwich, Mass.) and Endicott Hall of Famers Renee Kelly '03 (Brewster, N.Y.), Robyn Savitske Crosby '07 (Hellertown, Pa.) and Jenna Bortolotti Facey '11 (Milton, Mass.) on the exclusive list.

As a program, Endicott has earned the most CCC Pitcher of the Year awards among the rest of the programs in the league with 10 total.

Hanchuk also was named to the All-CCC First Team along with Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) and Keelin Spencer (San Jose, Calif.).

Meanwhile, Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.), Taylor Chelak (Westborough, Mass.), Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.), and Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) were selected to the All-CCC Second Team.

Chrissy Marotto (Southington, Conn.) rounded Endicott's award winners on the All-CCC Third Team.


MARIA HANCHUK | JR. | P

Hanchuk received her second-straight CCC Pitcher of the Year honor as one of the top pitchers in NCAA Division III this season.

She ranks in the top-50 in the nation in earned run average (ERA, 1.13, 24th), hits allowed per seven innings (4.59, 36th), strikeouts (141, 31st), strikeouts per seven innings (9.4, 30th), victories (14, 34th), walks and hits per inning pitched (WHIP, 0.93, 36th), and shutouts (7, 9th).

In addition to leading the conference in all of those categories, the Endicott ace also held opponents to a league-low .184 batting average contributing to her 14-4 record in the circle.

Hanchuk recorded double-digit strikeouts five times this year in 21 total appearances and allowed more than two earned runs on just two occasions.

She also threw two no-hitters this year.

Hanchuk was named CCC Pitcher of the Week four times during the weeks ending March 13, April 3, April 10, and April 17.

This is her second career All-CCC First Team selection as well.


RAVEN COMTOIS | JR. | C

Comtois earned her first career All-CCC First Team honor behind a .395/.434/.675 (.avg/.obp/.slg) slash line in 36 games this season (all starts).

Her stat line on the year includes 45 hits, 19 runs, 11 doubles, seven home runs, 29 RBI, seven walks, and a .993 fielding percentage (8-for-16 runners caught stealing).

Comtois leads the team in multi-hit games with 11 (tied, 7-two hit, 3-three hit, 1-four hit) and multi-RBI contests (4-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5+).

KEELIN SPENCER | GR. | INF

In 34 games this season (all at shortstop), Spencer slashed to a .327/.469/.541 clip alongside 29 runs, six doubles, three triples, three homers, 12 RBI, 17 walks, and four stolen bases.

Spencer registered seven multi-hit games (5-2, 1-3, 1-4) and three multi-RBI contests (3-2).

This is Spencer's first career All-CCC First Team honor and second career award overall (2nd Team, 2021).

JAYLIN COUTO | SO. | P

Couto has produced a stellar sophomore campaign for the Gulls behind an 11-4 record, 1.71 ERA, 104 strikeouts, and a .200 opponents' batting average over 102 1/3 innings pitched (18 appearances, 14 starts).

Couto ranks in the top-5 in the CCC in wins (5th), shutouts (4th), batting average against (3rd), and ERA (3rd).

Nationally, Couto is 31st in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.43), and 25th in WHIP.

This is Couto's first career All-CCC award.


TAYLOR CHELAK | FR. | OF

In 35 games this season (34 starts in left field), Chelak has registered a .286/.320/.398 slash line alongside 28 hits, 15 runs, five doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI, five walks, and one stolen base.

Chelak also has nine two-hit games and three multi-RBI contests (2-2, 1-3).

This is Chelak's first career All-CCC honor.


LAUREN MISIASZEK | SR. | OF

Misiaszek is hitting .368/.425/.585 so far this season in 36 games played (all starts in right field).

Her stat line includes 39 hits, 26 runs, 11 doubles, three triples, two homers, 22 RBI, 12 walks, and two stolen bases.

Misiaszek has notched nine multi-hit games (8-2, 1-3) and four multi-RBI contests (3-2, 1-4).

She also enters the CCC Tournament this weekend on a six-game hitting streak (longest this season is nine) and an 11-game on-base streak (longest this year is 15, tied for team lead).

This is Misiaszek's second career All-CCC Second Team award and third honor overall (1st Team, 2021).

KATIE WATTS | JR. | DP

In 36 games this season (all starts), Watts has logged a .377/.423/.535 slash line in addition to 43 hits, 27 runs, seven doubles, one triple, three homers, 18 RBI, nine walks, and six stolen bases on as many chances.

She is tied for the team lead in multi-hit games with 11 (6-2, 4-3, 1-4) and second in multi-RBI contests with five total (2-2, 3-3).

Watts also has produced the longest hitting streak of the season at 13 games from March 14 to April 3. Her 15-game on-base streak is tied with Misiaszek for the team lead as well.

This is Watts' first career All-CCC Second Team selection and second honor overall (3rd Team, 2021).

CHRISSY MAROTTO | JR. | INF

Marotto's stat line this season includes a .333/.386/.457 slash line in 34 games (all starts).

Marotto has tallied 23 runs, 35 hits, eight doubles, one triple, a homer, 20 RBI, seven walks, and two stolen bases.

She has 10 multi-hit games (8-2, 2-3) and four multi-RBI contests (2-2, 2-3) to her credit on the season.

Marotto enters the CCC Tournament on a seven-game hitting streak and a nine-game on-base streak.

This is Marotto's first career All-CCC award.

Endicott (25-11, 15-3 CCC) has earned the number one seed in this year's Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament. The Gulls will host No. 8 Roger Williams in game one of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday, May 5 at 10 AM.
