NCAA TOURNAMENT: No. 4 Salisbury Captures Regional Championship Over Endicott, 5-2

SALISBURY, Md. — The Endicott softball team fell to No. 4 nationally ranked Salisbury, 5-2, in the NCAA Tournament Salisbury Regional Championship on Sunday evening at Sea Gull Softball Stadium.

LP (17-6): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 3 2/3 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Endicott took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third via a two-run home run to left field by Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.).

The Sea Gulls responded with five unanswered runs to punch their ticket to the NCAA Super Regionals.

After scoring one run in the bottom of the third, Salisbury put up a four-spot in the next inning highlighted by a three-run blast to left field.

From there, the Sea Gulls only allowed two runners to reach base (one in scoring position).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • First regional championship appearance since 2014.
  • Salisbury is 27-0 at home this season.
  • Endicott's 32 wins rank tied for eighth all-time in a single season.
  • Comtois belted her team-leading ninth home run of the year (tied fourth all-time single-season).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott's season comes to a close at 32-13 overall.

No. 4 Salisbury (39-6) will play the winner of Babson and Mt. St. Joseph in the NCAA Super Regionals from May 20-21 (best of three).
