Couto Earns CCC Pitcher Of The Week Honors

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott sophomore Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) has earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Last week for the Gulls (April 25 - May 1), Couto threw 19 2/3 innings in the circle and only surrendered a single unearned run.

Couto opened the week with an extra-inning loss to No. 18 nationally ranked Babson. She was dealt the hard-luck loss against the Beavers allowing just two hits and one walk in the 1-0 defeat. In that outing, Couto only allowed one runner to reach second base, not counting the runner placed at second base in extras, and retired the side in order five times.

Couto then tossed two complete games against CCC opponents. On Saturday (April 30), she picked up a five-inning win over Nichols surrendering three hits and striking out eight.

She closed out the week with a complete-game one-hitter against Wentworth. Couto took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against the Leopards and registered eight more strikeouts in that game, giving her 20 on the week.

This is Couto's first career weekly honor.
