Endicott pulled out another big win to advance to the Finals of the CCC tourney. Endicott defeated the Colonels of Curry College in come from behind fashion. The pitching and defense were once again tops for the Gulls. Robyn Savitske was put back on the mound today after pitching 10 shutout innings yesterday. Savitske improved to 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the post season. She gave up 3 runs all unearned and only 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5 Colonel batters.
The scoring for Curry occurred in the 3rd inning. Denise Surran singled and Katie Darragh reached on an error by Katie Doherty. Lisa Bello and Shena Simone hit back to back doubles allowing three runs to score.
The Gulls would gain one back in the bottom half of the 3rd, when Ashley Labella reached on an error by Bello. Jennilee Danielson then sacrificed her to 2nd. Labella moved up to third on a passed ball and would score on another passed ball.
In the bottom of the 6th, the Gulls started the fireworks again. Danielson started it off with a single and advanced to second on a Megan Young fielder's choice. Elyse Colby walked and Megan Huckins reached on a fielder's choice. Danielson was thrown out trying to reach third. Laura Schack then followed with a 2 out walk. That left the bases loaded for Laura Mangini. Mangini hit a single up the middle scoring both Colby and Huckins, tying the game at 2. Last nights hero, Katie Doherty then singled home Schack for what proved to be the winning run.
Curry's last chance in the 7th inning was stopped short when Savitske blew it by the last two batters for the final two outs of the game. The win improves the Gulls to 27-8-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCC tourney. They advance to the finals on Saturday at 12pm.
