The Gulls starting pitcher Robyn Savitske started out quickly shutting down William Patterson's first three batters. They then went on the offensive when Nicole Reather reached on a throwing error by the second baseman. Reather moved to up two bases on two passed balls. Then broke for home before being caught in a run down that she ended up winning and scoring the first run for the Gulls.
The score remained Endicott up 1-0 behind Savitske's great pitching performance until the 4th inning when Brandi Kavaliauskas started off the inning with a walk. The walk proved costly when Kavaliauskas stole 2nd and reached third on a passed ball. She eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Alicia Albert.
The game remained even throughout regulation and was forced to go into extra innings. The international tie-breaker rule was used, which places the last batter in the previous inning to start in scoring position at 2nd base. William Patterson's Brandi Kavaliauskas hit a blooper to right fielder Laura Mangini, but the ball bounced out of her glove allowing the automatic runner to score. The next batter, Liz Sisca hit a triple scoring Kavaliauskas leaving the Gulls down 3-1 going into the bottom of the 8th inning.
The Gulls started out the bottom of the 8th inning with automatic runner, Jennilee Danielson, on 2nd base but were unable to score. The Gulls were led by the strong arm of Savitske, who had a great outing in her first ever collegiate game. She pitched 8 solid innings allowing 1 earned run on only 4 hits to add to her 4 strikeouts.
The loss put the Gulls at 0-1 for the season, while William Patterson is now 1-0.
