The first game was a pitchers duel. Robyn Savitske gave up only 2 runs on 6 hits with 8 strikeouts and walked nobody. Babson's starter Meghan Gaskell pitched strong as well. She gave up only 1 run on two hits while striking out 6.
In the second inning, Babson's Jamie Bowman cranked a homerun over the right field fence to put the Beavers up 1-0. In the third, Andrea Cartullo doubled to left-center and Darcy Lantz followed it up with a single. Gaskell then hit a sacrifice back to the pitcher scoring Cartullo from third, making the score 2-0.
With one out in the top of the 7th inning, the Gulls never quit. Elyse Colby started off the rally with a walk followed by an RBI double by Adrienne Guzman, scoring Colby. This made the score 2-1, but the rally fell short and the Gulls fell to 4-4 on the season.
