Game 2
The second game of the double header saw Endicott start a new CCC winning streak on the right note. The Gulls would pound out 16 hits and 9 runs to improve to 7-1 overall in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
The score remained deadlocked at zeros until the third inning, when Laura Schack started it off with a single and Jennilee Danielson followed it with a single of her own. Danielson's single caused some trouble in centerfield and allowed Schack to score and Danielson to advance to second.
In the 5th inning, with the score still 1-0 Schack once again started the rally off. She hit a double down the right field line. Schack then advanced to third on a passed ball and would score on an error by the Curry third baseman.
In the top of the 7th inning, the bats came full swing scoring 7 runs. The inning started off with a Kacy Beloin single and another Schack double, scoring Beloin. Megan Huckins and Danielson followed that with singles of their own to load the bases. Cleanup hitter Megan Young then stepped to the plate only to unload the bases on a 3 RBI double. Elyse Colby then hit a shot to left field that was dropped by the Curry leftfielder. With runners at the corners, pinch hitter Kirstin Wing then punched an RBI single up the middle. Laura Mangini then loaded the bases with another single. The next batter, pinch hitter Ashley Labella, then singled home Colby and the last run of the inning was scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Schack.
Offensively for the Gulls, Schack finished up going 3-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Danielson was 3-5 with a run scored and Young was 2-4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
While the offense was busy scoring runs, the pitching of Robyn Savitske was busy mowing down the Curry hitters. Savitske improved to 5-2, while striking out a season high 11 batters in route to the shutout.
The Gulls improved to 11-6 overall and 7-1 in CCC league play. Their next game will be Sunday April 4, 2004 at home versus Salve Regina.
