Endicott improved their record to 16-6 on the year in a non-league contest versus Pine Manor College. This marked the annual meeting of Endicott head coach Mark Veilleux with his daughter Amy, who is the head coach of Pine Manor.
The scoring started in the second inning, when Laura Mangini poked a single. Mangini then stole second and moved to third on an overthrow by the catcher. The centerfielder then bobbled the ball and allowed Mangini to cross the plate with the Gulls first run.
The crushing blow came in the bottom of the third, when the Gulls batted around. Megan Huckins started it off with a single and Elyse Colby would move her to third on a double of her own. Adrienne Guzman then beat out an infield hit and the bases were loaded for Laura Schack. Schack ripped an RBI single scoring Huckins from third. Mangini then figured into another run for the Gulls as she drew a tough bases loaded walk. With the bases still loaded, Kacy Beloin went opposite field for another Endicott run.
This would be all the Gulls needed with Nicole Reather on the mound. Reather pitched seven strong innings allowing no runs on only three hits and striking out four. Reather improved to 8-3 on the season.
Offensively, Laura Schack was 2-3 with an RBI and Laura Mangini was 1-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Gulls will play next on Monday April 12th versus Southern Maine at home. The game will start at 3:30pm.
