No. 7 Men’s Ice Hockey Holds Off Western New England, 5-4

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 7 nationally ranked Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Western New England, 5-4, in conference action on Saturday night at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.), Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.), Mitch Shaheen (North Andover, Mass.), Derek Contessa (Freehold, N.J.), and Connor Beatty (Concord, N.H.) all scored in the win for the Gulls. 

Endicott trailed by deficits of 1-0 and 2-1 before rattling off four straight goals from a nearly identical time frame in the first (11:28, 18:22) and the second periods (3:51, 11:38).

Western New England didn't go away quietly, however, with two tallies in the third (15:50, 18:52), but goalie Elijah Harris (Haverhill, Mass.) and the defensive unit held on for the Gulls' third straight victory.

Harris finished the contest with 23 saves to claim his first win of the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls earned their first victory at home this year (1-1-1).
  • Endicott is 13-1-0 versus Western New England all-time (three straight wins).
  • Beatty potted his first career game-winner.

No. 7 Endicott (5-1-1, 4-1-1 CCC) hosts Wesleyan on Tuesday, November 23 at 7 PM. Western New England (3-4-0, 2-4-0 CCC) visits Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, November 27 at 1:40 PM.
