No. 3/3 Gulls Comeback Bid Falls Short At Trinity; 23-Game Winning Streak Snapped

HARTFORD, Conn. — The No. 3/3 Endicott baseball team fell to Trinity, 15-10, in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at DiBenedetto Stadium.

WP (1-2): Peter Murphy (Brewster, Mass.) — 1.2 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
LP (0-2): Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) — 0.1 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Trinity raced out to a 10-0 lead after three complete, and held on despite a furious comeback attempt by the Gulls, to end the longest active winning streak in NCAA D3 at 23 games.

In the sixth inning, James Benestad (Northborough, Mass.) gave Endicott a jolt with his first career grand slam to cut into the deficit to 15-7.

The Gulls followed with three more runs in the seventh (15-10), but never brought the game within slam distance the rest of the way (1 LOB, 2nd base, 9th).
