BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 2/5 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team topped Bates, 20-2, in Wednesday evening's non-conference matchup from North Field.
WP (2-1): Charlie Hale (Brookline, N.H.) — 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
LP (0-1): Diego Sarabia (Mableton, Ga.) — 4.0 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Very similar to yesterday's win, the Gulls found themselves down 1-0 after a half an inning, but immediately erased the deficit with a four-run bottom half.
They notched their first inning runs on a Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) RBI hit-by-pitch, a Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.) RBI walk, and a TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) two-run single to left center.
In the third, Cade Bernardo (Glenmont, N.Y.) cashed in an RBI base-knock up the middle, and then Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) drilled a solo shot to right field in the fourth.
In the fifth, the Blue and Green blew the game wide open with an eight-spot on the scoreboard. Bernardo, Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.), and Brenden Walsh (Reading, Mass.) each tacked on RBI singles in the explosive frame.
The sixth inning featured another six-run frame, as Elijah Moses (Haverhill, Mass.) highlighted the action with a three-run shot to right field that caromed off the Post Center. AJ Hamm (Shrewsbury, Mass.) also stayed hot with his second hit of the game, which drove in the 20th Endicott run of the day.
On the mound, Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) got the start and dealt four strong innings (3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K) before handing the ball off to Hale, who retired six straight batters between the fifth and sixth to earn the win.
Grady Vanidestine (Brewer, Maine), Evan Scully (Maynard, Mass.), and Max Jarvie (Wilton, Conn.) combined to close out the final three frames for the Blue and Green.
