Hale, Scully Each Go The Distance; No. 4/5 Baseball Sweeps Curry, 8-0 and 8-1 (7 Inn.)

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 4/5 Endicott baseball team swept Curry, 8-0 and 8-1, behind Charlie Hale (Brookline, N.H.) and Evan Scully's (Maynard, Mass.) complete-game efforts in Friday afternoon's shortened Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader at North Field.

GAME ONE: NO. 4/5 ENDICOTT 8, CURRY 0 (7 INN.)

WP (7-1): Charlie Hale (Brookline, N.H.) — 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K
LP (0-1): Henry Marino (Watertown, Conn.) — 3 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Behind Hale's dominant seven-inning complete game shutout, the Endicott offense was able to cruise to a victory in game one.

The Gulls posted a run in the first, three in the third, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth to top the Colonels 8-0.

After Zach Stephenson (Mansfield, Mass.) came around to score off of a balk in the first, Will Frain (Hamilton, Mass.) smashed the first homer of his Endicott career well over the left center field wall to put the Gulls up 4-0 in the third.

Cade Bernardo (Glenmont, N.Y.) then circled the bases for an inside-the-park homerun in the fifth after his line drive scooted past the Curry center fielder, putting the Gulls on top 5-0.

In the sixth, the Gulls added three more thanks to a two-run double from Stephenson and an RBI single from Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.).

GAME TWO: NO. 4/5 ENDICOTT 8, CURRY 1 (7 INN.)

WP (5-0): Evan Scully (Maynard, Mass.) — 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K
LP (1-4): Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) — 5 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

Scully matched Hale's dominance, as he too went the distance in a complete-game four-hitter.

Bernardo drove in Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) in the first with an RBI single to quickly put the Gulls up, 1-0.

Then, in the fourth, TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) came in to score via an RBI single from Stephenson after he doubled earlier in the inning.

The Gulls added two in the fifth after Frammartino drilled a solo homer over the right field fence and AJ Hamm (Shrewsbury, Mass.) cranked an RBI double.

In the sixth, Bernardo picked up another RBI base-knock, this time driving in Stephenson from third.

A three-run top of the seventh (Liponis sac fly, Stephenson RBI double, MacDougall RBI single) capped things off for the Gulls offensively and left plenty of room for Scully to finish out his complete-game effort.
