BRIGHTON, Mass. — The No. 2/6 Endicott baseball team downed Colby, 11-2, on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference neutral site matchup in Brighton, Mass.
WP (1-0): Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.) — 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
LP (1-1): Thomas Rioux (Derry, N.H.) — 0.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
The Gulls rode a nine-run sixth inning rally to victory over Colby on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.) got the Gulls on the board with a solo shot that soared well over the left field fence.
Grabowski then highlighted the eventful sixth with both an RBI triple and a two-run single in the frame. Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) also tripled to score two in the sixth.
Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) joined in on the hit parade with an RBI single past the Mules' third baseman in that 14-batter marathon inning.
The Blue and Green tacked on another in the bottom of the seventh to cap off their 11-run afternoon.
Brady Stuart (Hudson, Mass.) made his second start of the season and featured some of his premier stuff on the mound. Although he did not earn the win, he recovered from a bumpy two-run first inning with shut down second, third, and fourth innings (five strikeouts), and was eventually lifted for Bagshaw two outs into the top of the fifth.
After Bagshaw escaped from the top of the fifth by inducing a flyout to left, he tossed a perfect sixth, which then led to Endicott's offensive explosion in the bottom half.
Replacing Bagshaw in the seventh was Chris Jenkins (Mansfield, Mass.), who went 1.2 IP of scoreless action before turning it over to Jake Harmony (Fairfield, Conn.) to close out the final 1.2 innings.
