WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — The No. 4/4 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team ended its RussMatt Tournament trip with a 10-1 defeat of The College Of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Thursday morning.
WP (3-1): Charlie Hale (Brookline, N.H.) — 6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K
LP (0-1): Owen Hoffman (Delran, N.J.) — 2.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Endicott grabbed hold of an early 2-0 lead in the first after Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.) and Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) both scored on some heads-up baserunning.
They piled onto their lead in the bottom of the third, plating six runs in the frame via a hit-parade.
TJ Liponis (Scarborough, Maine) started the rally with an RBI double to left, and later came home on Cade Bernardo's (Glenmont, N.Y.) RBI double. AJ Hamm (Shrewsbury, Mass.) then sent Bernardo in with an RBI single into the left center field gap, and he later scored off of John Mulready's (Peabody, Mass.) RBI single to right center.
MacDougall capped off the explosive frame with a two-run single, scoring Mulready and Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.).
After TCNJ scratched across its first run of the day in the top of the eighth, the Blue and Green tacked on two more of their own in the bottom half courtesy of a Wladkowski RBI double and a MacDougall RBI groundout, taking a commanding 10-1 lead.
Hale was dominant over his six innings of work, only allowing two Lions baserunners while fanning seven.
He was replaced by the bullpen tandem of Chris Jenkins (Mansfield, Mass.), Kyan Bagshaw (Amherst, N.H.), Evan Scully (Maynard, Mass.), and Max Jarvie (Wilton, Conn.), who combined for three innings of relief and allowed just one earned run to cement the victory.
