PAST CCC WOMAN OF THE YEAR NOMINEES

BEVERLY, Mass. — Amanda Gilbert '22 M'23 (Hopkinton, Mass.) was selected as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) nominee for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year award, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Gilbert is now the sixth Endicott student-athlete to be chosen as the CCC NCAA Woman of the Year nominee (based on available data from the CCC).

"The Commonwealth Coast Conference considers it a distinct privilege to move Amanda forward as our Woman of the Year nominee," said CCC Commissioner Patrick Colbert. "As someone who initially established herself as a dedicated undergraduate student and has now immersed herself in an accelerated nursing program, Amanda emerged as one of the top women's volleyball players in the country while always continuing to serve her campus community in multiple leadership roles. Personally, I am ecstatic to see what Amanda does next and wish her all the best as she navigates her post-athletic career."

Colbert continued.

"Lastly, I would like to thank our Senior Woman Administrators for continuing to effectively oversee this selection process, and for their diligent review of our many well-qualified candidates."

The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service, and leadership of graduating female college student-athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2023.

As the conference nominee, Gilbert advances to the next round of the award process during which the NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee will choose the top 10 honorees in each NCAA Division for a total of 30 candidates.

The committee will then determine the top three choices from each division from the pool of 30 honorees. Following that process, the Committee on Women's Athletics will select the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year from the nine finalists.

Gilbert currently sports a 3.80 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in the Bachelor's of Science (BSN) accelerated nursing program and most recently completed her Bachelor of Science in exercise science degree with a 3.56 GPA (cum laude).

She also garnered College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, four CCC Academic All-Conference selections, eight Dean's List citations, and was inducted into Phi Epsilon Kappa.

Additionally, Gilbert was one of five students selected to present her senior thesis to the entire exercise science graduating class.

Her internships included experiential learning opportunities at Platinum Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine (physical therapy) and the Whittier Health Network (nursing assistant).

Since 2022, Gilbert has served as a part-time clinical associate at nearby Addison Gilbert Hospital.

Outside of her academic-based work, Gilbert was a member of EC L.E.A.D., the Exercise Science Club, Relay for Life, and a coach for the Nike Volleyball Camp.

Athletically, Gilbert appeared in 117 matches (374 sets) and compiled 1,119 kills (2.99 k/s), a .245 hitting percentage, 111 service aces (0.30 sa/s), 785 digs (2.10 d/s), and 137 total blocks (15 solo, 122 assisted, 0.37 b/s).

She ranks second all-time in kills per set (2.99), third in points per set (3.50), seventh in total kills and total points (1306.0), and eighth in hitting percentage (.245).

Her athletic awards are as follows: one All-America selection, three All-Region honors, 2022 NEWVA and CCC Player of the Year awards, four All-CCC selections (two first team), four CCC Player of the Week awards, and two CCC Rookie of the Week accolades.

As a team, Endicott posted an 84-37 overall record (.694) and a 32-2 conference record (.941) during Gilbert's career.
