Endicott Falls to No. 14 Hope 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team had its six match win streak snapped by nationally ranked No. 14 Hope on Friday night by a 3-0 final. The loss drops Endicott to 11-4 overall on the season, while the win boosts Hope to 13-4.

The Flying Dutch claimed a tight first set 25-22, before taking the second 25-18. The third saw another close battle as the Gulls came up just short, falling 25-22 again.

Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.) finished with a team-high 13 kills while hitting at a .257 clip (13-4-35), while also adding 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the year. Fellow graduate student Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) finished with a match-high (min. 10 attempts) .462 average after posting an 8-2-13 line, while also finishing with a match-high five blocks (1S - 4A). Libero Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) tied for the match-high with her 13 dig effort.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Setters Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) each finished with 14 assists in the setback, while McGrath finished with six digs, and Koelb with five.
  • Kelsey Sanborn (Londonderry, N.H.) finished with five kills and two blocks on the night.
  • Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) ended the match with four kills and two blocks.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott hosts No. 18 nationally ranked Babson, and Brandeis in a non-conference tri-match tomorrow, with the Brandeis match set to serve as Endicott's Senior Day. First serve is set for 11:00 AM. Hope travels to Medford, Mass. to take on Bates and No. 24 Tufts on Saturday.
