Gilbert, Koelb, and Ruel Sweep Weekly CCC Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. - Following a 4-1 week for the Endicott women's volleyball team, a trio of Gulls swept the weekly Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honors, as was announced by the conference office earlier today. For their performances on the week, Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.)Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) and Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) were named Player of the Week, Rookie and Libero of the Week, respectively.

Gilbert earned her third Player of the Week honor of the 2022 season after leading the Gulls to the 4-1 week, which included the program's second win over an AVCA Top-25 team this season with the 3-1 win over No. 18 Babson. The Gulls started the week with two CCC wins (Nichols 3-0, Salve Regina 3-1), before falling to AVCA No. 14 Hope, and righting the ship on the weekend to go 2-0 against Brandeis (3-1) and AVCA No. 18 Babson (3-1). Gilbert averaged 4.22 kills/set, 3.17 digs/set, .56 aces/set and 4.9 points/set for the week, while hitting for a .285 clip. Against CCC competition, Gilbert hit .308 and averaged 4.14 kills/set and 2.71 digs/set, while she averaged 3.38 kills/set, and 2.88 digs/set against nationally-ranked competition. The graduate student eclipsed the 20 kill mark twice on the week, first in the win over Salve Regina in which she hit .319 and added seven digs, while she repeated in the team's 3-1 win over Brandeis while adding 15 digs.

Operating in a 6-2 offense, Koelb played a pivotal role in guiding the Gulls to a 4-1 record on the week. For the week, Koelb averaged 5.00 assists/set and 2.17 digs/set, while helping the Gulls hit .224 over the five matches. Against the two nationally-ranked opponents (No. 14 Hope and No. 18 Babson), the Gulls hit .244. In the team's 3-1 win over Salve Regina, Koelb averaged 5.75 assists/set and 3.75 digs/set after picking up her fourth double-double of the year, while she notched a high of 27 assists (6.75/set) in the team's 3-1 win over Brandeis. This is Koelb's first Rookie of the Week honor of her career.

For Ruel, the sophomore anchored the Endicott defense throughout a week as she averaged 5.06 digs/set, compiling 91 total digs across 18 sets played. Against two CCC foes, she averaged 5.0 digs/set, as the Gulls knocked off Nichols 3-0, and Salve Regina 3-1. Against the two nationally-ranked opponents in No. 14 Hope, and No 18 Babson, Ruel averaged 4.57 digs/set, as the Gulls went 1-1 against nationally-ranked teams on the week. The libero also recorded 24 digs in the team's 3-1 win over Brandeis, on her way to claiming her second CCC Libero of the Week honor in 2022.

The schedule doesn't get any lighter for the Gulls as the team travels to CCC foe UNE tonight for a 7:00 PM match, before returning home to take on AVCA No. 12 Wesleyan on Friday at 7:00 PM.
