Gulls Stifle Colonels in 3-0 Sweep

MILTON, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team swept Curry College in dominant fashion on Tuesday to improve to 17-7 overall while remaining undefeated in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at 8-0. The Gulls won by set scores of 25-9, 25-10 and 25-4.

The Gulls hit a season-high .493 in the win, a mark that also ties for the fourth-highest mark in a match in program history. Endicott's .493 average came as the Gulls recorded 40 kills and just six hitting errors on 63 attempts. Defensively, Endicott neutralized the Curry attack as the Gulls held the Colonels to a 11-14-68 line for a -.044 average. 

Leading the charge for the Gulls were outsides Amanda Gilbert (West Falmouth, Mass.) and Kelsey Sanborn (Londonderry, N.H.), as the duo produced eight kills each. Gilbert's eight kills came at a .412 clip (8-1-17) to go with a match-high 12 digs, while Sanborn's eight kills were recorded at a .357 average (8-3-14). 

Finishing right behind were right sides Emily Powell (Nassau, N.Y.) and Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.), who finished with six kills each. Powell's six kills came on 11 error-free swings for a .545 average, while Schueler's came on nine error-free attempts for a .667 average. 

Setters Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) finished with 14 and 13 assists respectively, with McGrath chipping in six digs, and Koelb with four.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The middles also enjoyed impressive performances as Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) finished with a match-high 1.000 hitting percentage, posting seven kills on seven attempts, while Megan Murphy (Danvers, Mass.) posted a career-high five kills on seven swings for a career-high .571 average.
  • Endicott is now a perfect 12-0 all-time against Curry, as the Gulls have never dropped a set to the Colonels. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (17-7, 8-0 CCC) returns to play on Thursday when the Gulls take on the Lyons of Wheaton at 7:00 PM. Curry (4-21, 0-8) will finish its season on Thursday with a home match against Salve Regina.
